Bella Donna Silver – Jewellery With Heart
Our journey began in the early 1990s, when we, Jason and Donna, set off in our early 20s to travel through Asia. As we wandered through Nepal, Thailand, and Bali, we were captivated by the exquisite craftsmanship of local silversmiths and deeply moved by the warmth and generosity of the people we met. Though they had little, their joy and simplicity left a lasting imprint on us.
Inspired, we began buying handmade jewellery and handicrafts to share with others. We started humbly, travelling through New Zealand in Jason’s Nana’s car, selling at pop-ups, markets, and jewellery parties with family and friends. Later, in the UK, we continued doing the same. Those early days were filled with learning, laughter, and connection.
When we returned to Australia, we turned our passion into something more permanent. In 2003, Bella Donna Silver was born in Queensland. From the beginning, our mission was simple: to celebrate the artistry of traditional jewellery makers, support the communities we work with, and give back wherever we could. We’ve proudly raised donations for orphanages in the very countries where our artisans live, and we uphold fair trade practices in every piece we create.
With encouragement from Donna’s Mum and Nanna, we took a leap into wholesaling, exhibiting for the first time at Reed Gift Fairs Brisbane in July 2005. That moment changed everything. We found a community of like-minded retailers, small-town gift and jewellery store owners from the coast, the country, and everywhere in between who connected deeply with our story and values.

To this day, we’re committed to old-fashioned, personal service. Jason continues to visit our retailers in-store, giving them the chance to hand-select their orders from our beautiful range of silver and gold jewellery. It’s a tradition of connection and care our stockists truly value and so do we.
Now, in our 21st year of exhibiting, we still feel a thrill when a buyer walks past, smiles, and says, “Bella Donna Silver!” It’s a reminder that our story and the stories of our artisans continue to resonate.
